22 Jump Street

22 Jump Street is a successful follow-up to the 2012 original 21 Jump Street film, where we again see the dynamic duo, Officers Schmidt (Jonah Hill) and Jenko (Channing Tatum), take on an undercover assignment to crack down on crime in a comical manner. Directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, creators known for their ability to cleverly mix comedy with action, this sequel was released in 2014 and includes a hilarious performance from rapper turned actor, Ice Cube.

The film picks up the story where it left off, starting with Jenko and Schmidt in the midst of another undercover operation. Yet after it goes awry, they find themselves reassigned and back in the office of their boss, the ever-opinionated Deputy Chief Hardy. Hardy, who is quick to make light of the requirement for needless sequels in the policing world, gives the orders for an undercover operation at a local college. Their mission this time around is to trace the source of a new synthetic drug being sold on campus known as 'WHY-PHY.'

In a clever shift from the original film's equation of high school cliches, 22 Jump Street offers a look into college life: hitting frat parties, attending art classes, poetry slams, and of course, Schmidt and Jenko wreaking havoc as usual. The partnership was tried and tested in the first installment, but the college scenario strains their friendship to the limit and introduces new strains that keep the audience hooked. Schmidt gets tangled in a romance, and Jenko creates a kindred spirit connection with a football teammate - challenging the strength of their partnership.
