Aloha, Scooby-Doo! is a 2005 American animated comedy mystery adventure film, part of the long-standing Scooby-Doo franchise. This direct-to-DVD movie is the eighth instalment of the Scooby-Doo direct-to-video film series. Directed by Tim Maltby, produced by Warner Bros. Animation, and with a screenplay by Temple Mathews, Aloha, Scooby-Doo! is another exciting and fun-filled escapade of the Mystery Inc. Gang that takes them to the serene beachy vistas of Hawaii. The beloved characters are brought to life by the talented voice casting, with Frank Welker as Scooby-Doo & Freddie, Casey Kasem as Shaggy, Mindy Cohn as Velma, and Grey Griffin, voicing Daphne and Auntie Mahina.

The movie begins with Scooby-Doo, Shaggy, Freddie, Daphne and Velma heading to sunny Hawaii for the Big Kahuna of Hanahuna Surfing Contest. The trip is not all play for the crew, as they have been commissioned by the organizers to produce an event video. They anticipate a relaxing Hawaiian adventure, packed with sunshine, surfing, luaus, and of course - food! However, the mythical Hawaiian past and curious local legends quickly tangle them up in a new mystery.

When they arrive, they learn of an ancient tale surrounding the surfing contest. The narrative suggests the islands were once tormented by the Wiki Tiki spirits and their little Tiki demons. The surf contest is said to have angered these spirits, and strange happenings around the venue began since the arrival of a mainland surfing hotshot. It is believed that the worst is yet to come on the night of the contest, aligning with an ancient Hawaiian prophecy. A thousand years of darkness will descend on the island if the anger of the Wiki Tiki spirits is not pacified.

With all these strange events unfolding, the island quickly empties out of scared surfers. The deserted beaches and empty waves present a tempting sight for Scooby and Shaggy, who can't resist participating in the surfing contest themselves. Meanwhile, the rest of the gang explores these odd occurrences in true Detective Inc. style.

As they carry out their investigation, they encounter a host of colourful characters like a lovely hotel owner, a surfer from the mainland, a local surfer dude and a mysterious and ancient Hawaiian woman, Auntie Mahina. Each character is unique and adds an extra layer to the puzzle being solved.

Throughout the film, Scripwriter Temple Mathews manages to blend Hawaiian mythology, surfing culture, a baffling mystery, and an abundance of humour seamlessly. The comic relief brought about by Shaggy and Scooby's antics is sure to keep viewers of all ages thoroughly entertained. The film, while all fun with its plot twists and comic moments, also pays homage to Hawaiian culture, delicately portraying different facets of island life, local practices, and beliefs.

The animation quality in Aloha, Scooby-Doo! is commendable and the picturesque Hawaiian landscapes have been captured beautifully in the film. From the lush greenery to the pristine beaches; the local architecture to the vibrant beach culture, every frame showcases the larger-than-life Hawaiian atmosphere. Add to this, the eloquently drawn surfing sequences and action scenes, which are sure to keep the audiences glued to the screens.
