This unexpected win, along with the prophecy by the Wise Man, introduces Ash as the 'Chosen One', the one who will retrieve the Necronomicon (the book of the dead) and save the medieval people from the Deadites.

Embeth Davidtz's characters add multi-dimensional aspects to the film. In one of her multiple characters, she plays Sheila, a maiden who first perceives Ash as an enemy but later develops romantic feelings for him. The chemistry between Ash and Sheila adds a romantic flavor to the horror-comedy saga.
