Bhikari

Bhikari is a 2017 Indian film directed by Ganesh Acharya. He is faced with the harsh reality that his mother's life is hanging on by a thin thread due to a critical medical condition that has not responded to treatment. His extraordinarily affluent life takes a sharp detour when countless medical expenses and ineffective treatments fail to improve his mother's health.

In an agony of despair and helplessness, he starts questioning his own beliefs and the effectiveness of his riches, which until now, he believed could resolve any problem. Suddenly, his prosperity seems worthless and hollow; his life becomes a manifestation of dire adversity instead of one filled with the privilege of fortune.

A ray of hope appears in the form of a mystical sage who proposes a radical solution to Samrat - become a beggar to save his mother’s life. From this point, the film takes a dramatic turn as it showcases the journey of Samrat transforming from a wealthy businessman to a beggar on the streets. It is a journey of self-discovery, resilience, and empathy. His transformation brings forth the capabilities of the human spirit, its ability to endure, and the lengths to which a son would go to save his ailing mother.

The film also stars Rucha Inamdar, who portrays the character of a kind woman who stands by Samrat's side in his dark times, adding a streak of hope and companionship in his life, while also putting a much-needed spotlight on the significance of unconditional support in human relationships.

An ensemble of songs by the music directors Vishal Mishra and Milind Wankhede adds a musical backdrop that enriches the cinematic experience while also supplementing the narrative progression.

Bhikari is not your typical commercial film.
