Bodyguard is a 2011 Indian Tamil-language romantic action film directed by Siddique, starring Joseph Vijay, Asin Thottumkal, Raj Kiran and Roja in pivotal roles. The music is composed by Vidyasagar, with its title song, "Bodyguard", becoming a major hit.

The story follows Bhoominathan (Joseph Vijay), a fiercely devoted and formidable bodyguard appointed to protect the life of the kind-hearted tycoon Amirtha Lingam’s (Raj Kiran) only daughter Meera (Asin Thottumkal). Meera, a spirited and independent young woman, finds the overbearing nature of her bodyguard bothersome. Dejected by the constant drudge of surveillance, Meera decides to play a trick on Bhoominathan to get him off her back.

To ensure Bhoominathan keeps his distance, Meera, under the pseudonym of Asha, starts making anonymous calls to him. A part of her prank was to pretend to fall in love with him and expectedly, Bhoominathan, unaware of the caller's true identity, genuinely falls for "Asha". Quite unexpectedly, volatile chemistry sparks between them, and their relationship evolves through the daily phone calls. Unaware of the storm she has inadvertently triggered, Meera is shocked to see Bhoominathan reciprocate to 'Asha's' feelings in earnest.

Simultaneously, the movie unveils some interesting elements revolving around the wealthy businessman Amirtha Lingam, with a mysterious past and powerful enemies conspiring against him. This aspect of the plot brings in an undercurrent of suspense and intrigue, making Bodyguard an engaging watch.

The contrasting relationship Bhoominathan shares with 'Asha' and Meera, forms the heart of Bodyguard. And as the story unfolds, Bhoominathan must grapple with his emotions, his duties, and the many secrets that gradually bubble up to the surface. Not only must he navigate his complicated feelings for 'Asha', but he also must protect Meera, towards whom he’s strictly professional and mildly antagonistic. The movie holds the viewers in suspense as to what exactly will happen when these complex relationships collide and the truth emerges.

Joseph Vijay, with his charming screen presence brings out the difficulties of Bhoominathan’s emotional perplexities, and the ever-watchful bodyguard aspect with equal prowess. His chemistry with Asin, who delivers an impressive performance as the lively and youthful Meera, is very much evident on screen. Raj Kiran’s portrayal of a caring father and a troubled businessman is appreciable and he brings in a lot of intensity to his character. Roja, playing the role of Meera's mother, adds to the plot with her impressive performance.

On the technical front, Siddique manages to integrate romance, comedy, suspense, and action, creating an engaging cinematic experience for the viewers. Cinematography and action sequences are particularly commendable, capturing the high octane scenes impressively.

The music by Vidyasagar is another highlight of Bodyguard, offering an exquisite soundtrack that perfectly complements the narrative. The song “Bodyguard” became popular and helped in adding to the movie's overall appeal.

Bodyguard is not just a regular action flick; it's packed with a blend of elements - sentiments, relationships, comedy, suspense, and action. It keeps you glued through the twists and turns and plays with your expectations. It skillfully balances the complicated dynamics of a romance unfurling under unusual circumstances and the gripping narrative of a protective bodyguard committed to his duty.

The movie was successful in creating a buzz among the audience and was well-received due to its unique storyline and powerful performances. Bodyguard leaves an impact and holds the audience till the very end, with all these ingredients making it an entertaining movie and a must-watch for all Tamil cinema lovers.
