Facing Reality (1954) * 1/2 (out of 4)Through an overly-serious narrator, we learn that teenager Mike appears to make jokes about everything or at least doesn't take anything serious. Whenever the class is meant to say one thing he will always do something else. We learn that Mike has trouble facing reality and some people deal with this by building up dreams they can never get or, in Mike's case, making fun of everything.When you watch these old "educational" films you know you're not really about to learn anything you need to know. In fact, most people go into these movies just expecting camp or laugh value and more times than not they deliver. Sadly, FACING REALITY doesn't deliver as there aren't any camp moments and the thing isn't interesting enough on its own to make it worth sitting through. The overly-serious tone of the narrator will put most to sleep.
