On advice from his new roommates, Clay attempts to win over Amanda by pretending to be gay, as he is informed that she is wholly supportive of the LGBTQ+ community. Clay decides to step into a façade, causing a string of uproarious consequences which makes for much of the movie's hilarity.

No romantic comedy can be complete without a rival, and that's where Matt, portrayed by Mike Erwin, comes in. As Amanda's smug ex-boyfriend, Matt accelerates the chaos by further complicating Clay’s life. Meanwhile, there is Marla Sokoloff as Marjorie, Clay's childhood friend who also happens to attend the same university.
