A somewhat eccentric scientist, Dr. Catheter, who is researching on genetic engineering in a lab in the same building, acquires Gizmo. Gizmo, although cautious from his previous nightmare, soon comes into contact with water when a janitor accidentally spills water from his bucket, triggering his rather unique biology. This results in the birth of a new group of mogwai, who, unlike Gizmo, are malevolent in nature.

The mischievous mogwais soon break the cardinal rule of not to be fed after midnight, transforming themselves into the notorious gremlins – grotesque, small, green creatures with a destructive, chaotic instinct. These intelligent and powerful creatures gleefully terrorize the high-tech skyscraper complex, turning it into a madhouse.
