Honeydripper

Honeydripper is a movie of music, race, strife, and redemption set against the backdrop of the American South of the 1950s. LisaGay Hamilton plays Delilah, Pinetop’s long-suffering wife, who as a devout Christian wrestles with supporting her husband’s gambles. Maintaining her faith in God and Tyrone, Hamilton’s character adds a layer of emotional depth to the narrative with her unyielding loyalty. Yaya DaCosta plays China Doll, a youthful, vibrant character trying to negotiate her way through a society marked by racial tension. We watch as these characters grapple with their circumstances and strive for their dreams amidst an era of drastic change, personal dilemmas and the harsh realities of life in a segregated South.
