Libel is a gripping British drama film that was released in 1959. Helmed by Anthony Asquith, the veteran director known for his accomplished style & aristocratic sense of storytelling, this film boasts a stellar star cast including Dirk Bogarde, Olivia de Havilland, and Paul Massie.

The plot takes a dramatic twist when Frank Welney (Dirk Bogarde again), a bit actor in a traveling revue, alleges that Sir Mark is a fraud. He claims that the real Sir Mark had died during the war and that the person living as Sir Mark is, in fact, him. What follows next is an intense inquisitive journey that lays the roadmap for the rest of the film.

Olivia de Havilland, as Lady Margaret, gives a compelling performance. She unwaveringly supports her husband in his legal battle and against the storm of doubt, suspicion, and public derision, showing undeterred faith and love for her husband.
