Miss Violence is a 2013 Greek drama film that pushes boundaries and explores the ominous underbelly of a seemingly conventional family's life. Themis Panou is cast as the man of the house, a charismatic but chilling patriarch. His authoritative rule exudes an aura of terror that you can feel through the screen. Panou’s acting prowess encapsulates perfectly a man whose dark past and massive, terrifying aura affect every corner of the house with dread.

In contrast, Eleni Roussinou plays the naïve and innocent Myrto, contrasting the tyranny of the father's household through her innocence and unconditional love for the family. Her vulnerability intensifies the eeriness of the family's disjointed reaction to the Angeliki's death, marking her as a character driven to the edge in a horrific and unrelenting world.

Reni Pittaki portrays Eleni, adding another shade to the already multifarious character line-up. She is caring, attentive, and compassionate, but at the same time, fear grips her every movement, and she willingly succumbs to the father's oppressive reign to preserve the family's chillingly fabricated happiness.

Throughout Miss Violence, Alexandros Avranas examines how authority and violence can exist surreptitiously in the everyday, normalizing themselves until they're deeply embedded in the familial structure. The cinematography complementarily employs cold, sterile visuals that further intensify the theme of concealed horror.
