Overboard

Overboard is an enjoyable classic rom-com from the 1987. This film features an outstanding performance from Hollywood legends, Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell, along with a fantastic supporting cast, including Edward Herrmann.

In this movie, Goldie Hawn plays Joanna Stayton, a wealthy, somewhat insufferable socialite who lives a life of luxury on a yacht with her aloof, workaholic husband, Grant Stayton III, played by Edward Herrmann. Joanna is the quintessential affluent, snobby wife, dripping in jewels with a haughty attitude.

The story sets off when Joanna hires Dean Proffitt, a struggling carpenter and a widowed father of four unruly boys played by Kurt Russell, to remodel her closet on the yacht. From a lavish life on a yacht, she is taken to a dilapidated house with four kids and an overwhelming amount of housework. With no memory of her old pampered life, she takes on the role of a working-class wife and mother, coming to terms with cooking, cleaning, and caring for four wild children.

As the film progresses, viewers get to witness a significant transformation in Joanna's character. Her transformation from a spoilt, rich woman to a caring, able mother and a hardworking woman is not only heart-warming but also brings lots of comedy to the plate.
