Patrick

Patrick is an Australian sci-fi horror film launched in 2013 that is directed by Mark Hartley and produced by Antony I. Ginnane and Tony Ginnane. The film stars Sharni Vinson, Rachel Griffiths, and Charles Dance in leading roles, and it is a remake of the 1978 film of the same name directed by Richard Franklin. The plot revolves around a seemingly vegetative patient in a private psychiatric clinic who exhibits telekinetic powers, offering a layered watch that balances horror, suspense, and moral dilemmas in a masterful mix.

The movie begins as Kathy Jacquard, played by Sharni Vinson, enters a new job as a nurse at a secluded private psychiatric hospital named Roget Clinic run by a stern matron, Cassidy, brought to life by Rachel Griffiths, and her unusually perturbing father Doctor Roget, played by Charles Dance. Despite apparent tranquillity, the clinic immediately gives off an eerie and ominous aura, subtly hinting at the events that are to unfold.

The story's centre is a mysterious patient, Patrick, portrayed by Jackson Gallagher, who lies in a coma-like state at the clinic, the result of a horrifying incident involving the seemingly supernatural. Charles Dance, known for playing nuanced anti-hero roles, once again excels in his role as the overbearing and manipulative Doctor Roget.
