Sing Street

Sing Street is an Irish musical, comedy-drama film, released in 2016, exceptionally directed by John Carney. And thus, under the craze of wooing Raphina, the idea of forming a band takes root.

Starting a band with no musical experience seems like a daunting task, but Conor is helped along by his brother Brendan, an out-of-work college dropout and music enthusiast. A variety of interesting characters from his school join Conor in his pursuit of creating a band - and it's a colorful mix of misfits who, like Conor, seek an escape from the harsh realities of their daily lives.

Along the way, they face typical band quarrels and disagreements, but what keeps them together is their shared dream and passion. The band, 'Sing Street,' starts to make original music influenced by the various popular rock and pop bands they idolize like Duran Duran, The Cure, and Hall & Oates. Their music becomes an outlet for their teenage dreams, ambitions, frustrations, and a medium to express.

The film does not shy away from showcasing the economic depression Dublin was undergoing at the time.
