Dalglish arrives with the looming prospect of a railroad line that can either connect Kingdom Come to the thriving civilization or bypass it altogether, leaving it isolated and forgotten. Bentley's portrayal of Dalglish brings an ambivalence that keeps you questioning his true motives and allegiances.

Elena, played by Nastassja Kinski, and her beautiful daughter Hope, depicted by Sarah Polley, are the other two newcomers, bearing secrets of their own.
