Touch of Evil

Touch of Evil is an idiosyncratic blend of film noir and crime drama, directed by renowned powerhouse of the classic Hollywood era, Orson Welles. Welles is also responsible for the screenplay, adapting it from an original novel by Whit Masterson, titled "'Badge of Evil'". Not only confined to off-screen roles, Welles also shares the film's spotlight with actors Charlton Heston and Janet Leigh, this unholy trinity of acting prowess making for captivating viewing.

A car bombing takes place just a few steps from where the couple are enjoying their time, thrusting Mike into the detour of duty and responsibility. An American constructionist and his girlfriend become victims of this explosion setting off not only a murder investigation, but also unveiling a tangled web of law enforcement corruption.

Orson Welles steps into the shoes of Captain Hank Quinlan, a morally ambiguous character that becomes a central figure in this complex and engaging storyline. Quinlan is a seasoned lawman, hardened by years of fighting crime in his own way. His methods are questionable and ultimately become the subject of Mike Vargas’ scrutiny. Vargas is driven to expose Quinlin's dubious practices, putting his own life, as well as his wife’s, on the line. As Vargas sinks deeper into the mire of intrigue and danger, Susan, unaware of the perilous cobweb her husband is entwined in, endures her own deeply troubling experiences.
