AAAHH!!! Real Monsters is an American animated television show that aired on the Nickelodeon channel from October 1994 to December 1997. A brainchild of Gabor Csupo and Peter Gaffney, the show injected a humorous take into the world of classic monster mythology while captivating young and old audiences alike with its creative storytelling and memorable characters.

Ickis, one of the protagonists - small, rabbit-eared and perpetually petrified - might come off as the least scary of the lot, but it's his unexpected, size-changing abilities that shock everyone. Oblina, an upright black-and-white-striped candy cane-shaped character, is intelligent and methodical in finding new ways to instill fear in their human targets. Her go-to move is reaching inside her body to retract and toss her internal organs during scares. And Krumm, despite his constant pleas for companionship, tends to repel company, thanks to his overpowering body stench and his morbid habit of carrying his eyes in his hands.

The show manages to elicit comedy out of their dark, grotesque world, creating an enjoyable contrast. It places its characters in ordinary situations but with extraordinary, monster-centric twists and clever writing that often includes mild but effective socio-political commentary.
