Alice Academy

Alice Academy, originally known as "Gakuen Alice", is a captivating Japanese animated series from 2004. The show, created by Higuchi Tachibana, is an adaption of his popular manga of the same title. The story revolves around an elementary student named Mikan Sakura, who suddenly finds her life dramatically changed when her best friend Hotaru Imai transfers to a special school for geniuses. Feeling left behind and without semblance of what life would be without her best friend, Mikan, full of grit and determination, decides to enroll at Alice Academy as well.

It’s worth pointing out that Alice Academy is no ordinary institution. Though the school may appear presentable and refined from the outside, it houses numerous secret truths within its walls. The Academy is specially designed for students who possess what's known as the "Alice", a special, innate ability that varies from person to person and can range from telepathy or flying to much nuanced abilities. Each individual's Alice varies, and they are distinctively classified into types on the basis of their nature and potential. Mikan discovers that Hotaru had been sent to this school not because of her intellect, but because she was an Alice possessor herself.

Against all odds, Mikan resolves to join Hotaru at Alice Academy. Her devotion towards her friend leads her to take a leap of faith and run away from home, embarking on a quest to enrol at this elite institution. In a surprising twist of events, Mikan lands an admission at Alice Academy, only after it is revealed that she herself is an Alice carrier.
