Set in the year 2063, the universe is no longer a mysterious void--space travel has become routine, and students are even sent to distant planets for extracurricular activities. In Astra Lost in Space, a group of students from Caird High School are looking forward to just such an adventure. As they prep for their journey to Planet McPa for their ‘Planet Camp’, though, their excitement is shattered by an unexpected catastrophe.

Promptly after their arrival, an enigmatic and uncanny black sphere swallows up the students, catapulting them into the vast emptiness of space. Stranded 5012 light years away from their home planet, the students find themselves in the vast expanse of the cosmos with nothing more than their spacecraft--the Astra. The nine boys and girls aboard the ship run a gamut of personalities. Among them is a headstrong leader, Kanata Hoshijima, an introverted yet highly intelligent child prodigy, Ulgar Zweig, and an exceedingly cheerful optimist, Aries Spring.
