Beetlejuice is an American-Canadian animated television series that ran from 1989 to 1991. The show was developed and produced by Nelvana Limited, Geffen Film Company, and the Tim Burton Incorporated. It was aired on the ABC network, and subsequently on Fox, from September 9, 1989 to December 6, 1991. This one-of-a-kind fantastical series was inspired by the hit 1988 comedy film of the same name, directed by Tim Burton.

The premise of Beetlejuice revolves around the adventures and antics of its title character, Beetlejuice, an eccentric, fast-talking, shape-shifting prankster and the youthful Lydia Deetz, a gothic, kind-hearted, and empathetic teenage girl with a deep love for all things macabre. Beetlejuice is from the Neitherworld (the afterlife), while Lydia is part of the 'real world,' but their paths cross due to their peculiar and exclusive ability to communicate with each other. The duo share a tight bond and help each other navigate through their contrasting worlds, managing to always land in absurd and comic situations.

Distinct from the film, the series offered a more friendly and innocent persona of Beetlejuice, who, while still loud and crude, is much less malevolent, developing into a sort of unorthodox hero figure. He has a special fondness for Lydia, who he refers to as "Babes," and is swayed by her humanity, often becoming her shield against supernatural threats, despite his typical self-serving nature.
