Fireball XL-5

Fireball XL-5, a British science fiction television series from the early 1960s was a pioneering experiment in children's entertainment from the producer Gerry Anderson. Airing for a single season from 1962 to 1963, the series consisted of 39 black and white episodes that were broadcast on the ITV network. The series was one of several early examples of Supermarionation, a form of puppetry using complex, electronically operated marionettes, a signature move of Anderson's production company, AP Films.

Set in the distant futuristic year of 2062, Fireball XL-5 is based on the intergalactic exploits and adventures of the spacecraft of the same name, the last of a fleet of exploratory ships, each named after a subsequent letter of the alphabet.
