The series is essentially about Itsuki’s journey towards his growth and development as a leader, as he grapples with the challenges of managing Astral along with handling his powerful, yet perilous Mystic Eye.

The characters within Rental Magica are nothing short of delightful in their own unique ways. There's Honami Takase Ambler, an assertive Celtic mage with an unwavering loyalty towards Itsuki, and Nekoyashiki, the cat-themed Shinto mage who is Astral's housekeeper.
