The 100

The 100 is a futuristic, dystopian drama series that aired on The CW from 2014 to 2020. Set approximately 97 years after a nuclear apocalypse decimates Earth, the surviving human population exists on a massive spaceship orbiting the planet known as the Ark. However, with life support systems failing, the decision is made to send 100 juvenile detainees considered expendable to the earth to assess its habitability.

The show follows the perspective of these 100 "Delinquents", led by Clarke Griffin (Eliza Taylor), a medical apprentice and natural leader. The group also includes Bellamy Blake (Bob Morley), a fiery and charismatic figure with a protective streak; Octavia Blake (Marie Avgeropoulos), Bellamy’s rebellious younger sister; Finn Collins (Thomas McDonell), a peace-loving and popular guy; and Jasper Jordan (Devon Bostick), a happy-go-lucky and loveable character, amongst others.

Back on the Ark, weaved in parallel to the earthbound narrative, the story traces the complex political plots and plans of the Ark's leadership. Paige Turco stars as Dr. Abigail Griffin, Clarke’s mother and the chief medical officer,Chancellor Jaha (Isaiah Washington), and Councillor Marcus Kane (Henry Ian Cusick) are other key characters that drive the narrative in the Ark.

Upon reaching earth, the young misfits not only have to manage their internal differences, but to their shock, they also find themselves contending with various factions of (supposedly extinct) ground-dwelling humanity who have themselves survived the apocalypse by adaptive means. They must navigate a starkly transformed world fraught with predatory wildlife, radioactive storms, and warring tribes.

Each season delves into different aspects of survival with plotlines that push the boundaries of their physical, emotional, and ethical limits. The characters evolve dramatically, cycling through roles of leaders, followers, villains, and heroes, as the cascading effects of their decisions shape both their destinities and the society they strive to build.
