The Goode Family

The Goode Family is an animated television series that aired on ABC in 2009. The show, which has its roots in satirical comedy, centers on the lives of an environmentally conscious, politically correct family striving to live up to the socially progressive values they preach. Created by Mike Judge, who is best known for his work on Beavis and Butt-head and King of the Hill, the series employs Judge's signature brand of humor, which often combines elements of social commentary and laugh-out-loud sitcom-style humor.

The dynamic between Gerald and Helen sets the scene for a plethora of comedic situations throughout the series.

Their daughter Bliss, voiced by Linda Cardellini, is quite the rebel in the family, often questioning the rigid principles her family abides by. It is through her character that the series often explores the dynamics of teenage rebellion within such an ideologically stringent household. The Goode family's adopted son Ubuntu, voiced by David Herman, is a white South African whose somewhat naive outlook provides a constant source of humor within the series.

Rounding out the main cast is the character of Charlie, an old-school, hard-drinking, snarky neighbor voiced by Brian Doyle-Murray. Charlie acts a foil to the Goode Family's forward-thinking ideals, leading to a variety of comedic clashes and misunderstandings.

Dee Bradley Baker lends his voice to the unique character of Che, the family's vegan dog who is named after the revolutionary Che Guevara.
